Something happened at work today, something completely absurd. One of those things that makes you question what the fuck is going on with the world. I have very little right to be angry about what happened. In fact, what happened is exceedingly good for the person it happened to. Obviously, since blogging about work is not a wise idea, I have to limit my comments here. Perhaps I will have to consider keeping a paper journal, as a supplement to my blog. I will say this, however, the event in question lead to two things:
- My friend VC to use the phrase, "lower than a retarded ape"; and
- Me to indulge in retail therapy. I told you it was bad.
My favourite thing to buy when I am distressed is books. Books are always there for me even if it takes me three years to get around to reading them. Therefore, I feel they are a sound investment. My favourite place to buy books is Books Plus. It has the unbeatable combination of being on my way home, being cheap and having a parrot. As a bonus, the books - although used - are always in good shape. I also like the fact that the store is always very messy with crates full of books all over the floor and shelves practically exploding with literature. It makes me feel excited, as though I'm on a treasure hunt. Since I was already late coming home, I dashed in. What's another 15 minutes when you're already an hour late? As usual, I could have easily walked away with ten or more books but managed to compromise and kept it to Girl With a Pearl Earring and All Families Are Psychotic. I feel a little better already.
